Catastrophe Guide
by Bodyguard
Last update: Apr 18, 2026, 10:44 PM
Overview
Catastrophe (CaT) is a strong physical DPS character with burst damage skills that can deal with all types of bosses. They also offer party-wide Super Armor and Cooldown Reduction buff, and can debuff enemies for increased damage taken.
Pros
Very high defense ignore on damaging skills
Works well regardless of boss size
Great clearing capabilities
Good aerial mobility
High party synergy
Very durable
Cons
Needs some time to setup after dungeon start
Long skill casts
Highly reliant on Combination Points
Can be costly to maintain
Character Information
Lu/Ciel can equip two accessory and avatar sets and choose which character is used to populate your stats. HP is taken from both sets simultaneously, so while one character can use a DPS-focused setup, the other can be fully geared with HP items, accessories, and gems, making you significantly more durable.
Major mechanic - Fear
Catastrophe’s damage output is highly dependent on Remnant of Fear. It is indicated by this buff icon:
All of the stacks are consumed every time a Bravery skill is used. Due to this, mindlessly spamming Bravery skills one after another is not recommended.
Stacks are gained by hitting enemies via skills and commands while applying the Fear debuff. If it fails to apply, no stacks are provided, which means that this class doesn’t work against debuff-immune bosses, and will be significantly punished during Hyper Armor (pink border) phases.
Bossing
Skill Bar
CaT has strong bossing capabilities. They perform well against both small bosses (Apollyon, Oblivion) and large ones ([Mod] Soul Infest: World Ender). Their main skills provide high defense ignore, making it easier to handle bosses with high defense or when the party lacks defense debuffs.
To fully utilize the class, focus on maintaining full buff uptime, and consistently charge the Combination Points (CP) bar by using [Mod] skills.
It’s also important to stay positioned facing the boss whenever possible, as this maximizes the benefit of the Gaze of Abyss passive.
There is no fixed skill rotation, as it depends on the boss type, mobility, and mechanics. Generally, you should start by activating buffs, build up CP, and finish with Apollyon for small bosses or [Mod] Soul Infest: World Ender for larger ones.
At the start of a raid, your rotation typically looks like this:
Aura of Punishment
Power of Oriax
Dead Hands
Awakening
Oblivion
Supreme Punishment
Corrupted Premium MP Potion
For large bosses:
Use [Mod] Soul Infest: World Ender with the Night Parade of the White-Ghost (15-6) title
Switch the title back
[Mod] Soul Infest: World Ender
Apollyon, then improvise as needed.
For small bosses:
Use Apollyon with the 15-6 title
Switch the title back
Check Remnant of Fear status - if it’s not fully stacked, use a combo or any skill to build it
Corrupted Advanced Warrior’s Potion
Apollyon, then improvise as needed.
After this rotation, you can attempt an additional skill reset using The Setting Sun (13-5) title.
Also, don’t overlook Summon Darkness - your demon helper generates CP with every hit, builds Remnant of Fear stacks, and restores a small amount of mana to the inactive character’s mana bar.
Positioning
Positioning depends on the boss type, but there is one consistent rule: maintain some distance and, if possible, stay one platform below the boss. This helps you fully utilize [Mod] Soul Infest: World Ender.
All of your skills have enough range to support this positioning while still consistently hitting the target and generating CP.
Clearing
Skill Bar
Catastrophe’s clearing skills have excellent range and high DPS. They can easily wipe out everything on screen - and even beyond - thanks to Demonic Cannon, or clear an entire side of the map with [Mod] Oblivion.
While the overall clear is strong, it lacks a bit of speed, and due to Remnant of Fear, some preparation is needed before casting if the buff isn’t active.
Positioning
For efficient map clearing, proper positioning is important. [Mod] Oblivion only hits targets in front of you, so you need to face the correct direction. Demonic Cannon works differently - it first pulls nearby enemies toward its center (if possible), then releases a large explosion, with its size scaling based on your CP. Most of its damage comes from this explosion phase.
Skill tips
Buffs:
Dead Hands - self buff that increases attack and defense
Power of Oriax - party buff that grants Super Armor and accelerates skill cooldowns
Aura of Punishment - self buff that increases Critical and Critical Damage
Debuffs:
Supreme Punishment - increases damage taken
Oblivion - increases Critical Damage taken
Fear stacks - applied with every skill or combo, reducing enemy’s damage dealt
Due to the Demonic Authority passive, always make sure Power of Oriax is active before casting Apollyon.
[Mod] Soul Infest: World Ender fully refreshes your CP and Remnant of Fear stacks, allowing you to easily chain it into Apollyon.
General tips
Due to constant CP management, it’s best to look for party members who can support it. Dius Aer or Gembliss are especially helpful, but if they’re not available, you can rely on Corrupted Premium MP Potion and Corrupted Advanced Warrior’s Potion.
CaT can sometimes struggle with skill cooldowns, even with the Threat of Terror passive and Power of Oriax buff. Be ready to make use of the Night Parade of the White-Ghost (15-6) title and The Setting Sun (13-5) title when needed.
Equipment
The gameplay focuses more on the quality of skills used rather than quantity, so the priority is increasing overall damage output. CaT doesn’t particularly benefit from skill reset chance, as they aren’t designed to sustain rapid skill bursts.
Tenebrous - Damage under x% Enemy HP
Exascale - Compute
Atma’Ram
Grove - If you want a more comfortable playstyle, this option keeps things simpler and doesn’t add extra mechanics to manage alongside buffs and Remnant of Fear.
Flow - If you prefer a more dynamic playstyle, this set offers cooldown reduction, making skill rotation feel smoother, but it adds another element to track along with your existing buffs and Remnant of Fear management.
Reset Setup
Should we fully avoid reset chance on armor? Not necessarily - it depends on the situation. The stat is fully RNG-based, so it can help or do nothing at all.
CaT requires setup before dealing damage, mainly CP and Remnant of Fear. While [Mod] Soul Infest: World Ender can refresh everything, it only applies to large bosses. Against smaller ones, you still rely on Apollyon, which makes consistent CP generation from the party important to fully benefit from any reset.
To sum it up: reset chance isn’t unusable on CaT, but it increases reliance on external CP support and adds inconsistency.
