Liberator Guide

by Minnae

Overview

Liberator is a strong Physical DPS with solid automatic party synergy, but he requires significant practice with character skills, passives, boss behavior, and core game knowledge.

Pros

  • Can reach high damage on any boss size.
  • Decent mana management.
  • Fast bursting skills.
  • Easy character movement.

Cons

  • High skill ceiling.
  • Requires specific positioning, which might result with not getting some party buffs.

Skill Bar

Fog of Death is for Awakening Title timer.

Reset or damage gear?
I personally prefer reset, why? Reset can improve your moon rotation a lot, his skills are fast, so you don’t waste too much time by casting one again, and you are way more flexible in party composition.
Damage gear can make you get stuck in cooldowns due to moon rotation and unable to get Half Moon quick enough + you will always strive for Cooldown supports.
Going for damage gear is also viable though, just less comfortable to play.

Clearing
Mainly Silent Abyss, Pursuit and [Mod] Dark Moon: Shadow Gaze. Silent Abyss and Pursuit are preferred in small rooms, while in large rooms, you will benefit greatly from prioritizing [Mod] Dark Moon: Shadow Gaze. If you don’t have enough damage to kill, use Half Moon’s Cooldown Reduction mechanic, which will be explained in Mechanics and Tips.

Bossing
There is no specific rotation, most of the time you will have to adapt to the boss and what they do.
At best, you can follow this skill use priority: Silent Abyss → New Moon’s Shadow → Pursuit → Day and Night → Half Moon Awakening effect (or other skills if not available.)

Mechanics and Tips

  • First of all: the Half Moon Awakening effect.

This is Liberator’s most important mechanic in DPS - the action of Awakening during Half Moon reduces your cooldown by 20% and makes your next skill cooldown decrease by 90%, which means it can be almost immediately used. After casting the first skill, use an instant Awakening item (such as Peek-a-Boo Onion) right after to retain all buffs. The next skill will gain 25% more damage due to New Moon Awakening effect, so make sure to wait for Silent Abyss (your main skill) to consume it.
You can do this trick every 15 seconds, but this cooldown has no visual indicator, so you will have to get good.

Positioning tips:

  • Silent Abyss - humanoid bosses can be hit by only 2 stars (ex. Rosso from 12-7 or Anihilator from 15-6); if the boss is a bit bigger, it can hit 3 stars or more. Always try to hit the target with the end of the first star’s hitbox.

  • New Moon’s Shadow - use it as close to the boss as you can. Most bosses can get hit by 3 or 4 orbs, which greatly increases your damage.

  • Other skills can be used from the same position as Silent Abyss.

General tips:

  • Use both Peak-a-Boo Onion and Superhuman Apple to activate Half Moon’s Awakening effect more frequently.
  • Have 125%+ Action Speed in stats - Liberator’s performance highly depends on casting speed.
  • If you’re a newbie, increase your skill visibility - this helps with learning hitboxes a lot.
  • If your party includes Nyx Pieta, don’t start with Awakening to not waste New Moon’s Awakening 25% damage boost of the next skill used. Instead, buff up via Obsidian Moon and cast 3 filler skills first (to stack your passives) while letting the party debuff the boss.
  • When Green Exascale’s Complete buff is active during groggy phases, use Mirage to decrease the boss’s defense. This will make your team deal more damage, and also give them time to debuff the boss before you burst it. Attacking immediately as the pattern starts is inefficient and will make you lose overall DPS.
